Blessed Are the Peacemakers, Not Warmongers

I think many Republicans need to stop and think about their attitude towards involving themselves in war all around the world. Personally, my past included a time when I was a stout supporter of our military sorting out world problems by means of war. Time, and in particular the Bible, has changed that. The very purpose of our government is to execute wrath on evildoers, not police the world as we might hear said.
We can argue all day about American interests and even about American hostages, but it is much deeper than this. There is a spirit of war, it seems, among the conservative or Republican branch of American politics. Do the Democrats have this same spirit? Only when it's convenient, it seems, but this spirit is there. We almost relish war, at least at times. We exalt the soldiers as heroes and revel in our victories.
