Pro-Lifers' Messages Deemed 'Too Political'
Bob Kellogg - OneNewsNow
The chalk art message of a pro-life group at an Arizona university was not only vandalized, it was replaced by a horrendous one.
Every semester, members of the Students for Life chapter at Arizona State University write pro-life messages on campus sidewalks during "National Pro-life Chalk Day." But Jake Simon, a regional coordinator for the group, says last week vandals not only smudged the chalk art but chalked their own "dark" message.
"... 'Everyone deserves the right to kill their unborn child' was one of the messages," he explains. "In addition to scuffing out the positive pro-life messages and crossing them out, they added their very own dark, pro-abortion messages."
According to Simon, the Students for Life chapter obtained permission for the project from the university - nevertheless, they discovered an ASU employee removing the messages on the orders of a lower-ranking supervisor.
"A maintenance employee from the university came out there with a power washer to wash away the chalk and the message that the students got with it," says Simon. "They were told to wash it away because the message was 'too political.'"
Simon reports the pro-life group was planning to replace the artwork despite the setback.
Alabama Senate Votes to Eliminate Marriage Licenses
The Alabama Senate approved SB 143 which would eliminate marriage licenses in the state and would instead make records of private marriage contracts based on signed affidavits. The proposed law would still maintain a few of the restrictions that the state formerly placed on marriages. The Tenth Amendment Center reported that individuals between 16 and 18 would need parental consent before they can marry and may not be related by blood or adoption. The state would also prohibit anyone who is already married to enter into a marriage contract. This bill will protect state officials from being forced against their conscience or faith to issue same-sex marriage licenses and also prevent federal judges from dictating the definition of a marriage to the citizens of Alabama.
Down Syndrome Declining Due to Abortion
According to OneNewsNow, the number of children born with Down Syndrome is declining, not due to to medical innovation or cures, but because most parents are choosing to abort Down Syndrome children.
Studies show that somewhere between 60 percent and 90 percent of Down Syndrome babies are aborted. Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee, tells OneNewsNow that this trend is an evidence of a national moral decline.
"What this comes down to is that our country no longer values human life," Tobias says. "If you are young and healthy, then you're okay, but once you start becoming more elderly, if you have any kind of disability, then suddenly your life isn't as valuable as other people's."
There are many parents waiting to adopt Down Syndrome children so there is no excuse for this genocide of "imperfect" babies.
Iranian Hackers Infiltrated American Dam
Daniel Jennings -Off The Grid News
The Justice Department will soon release a statement blaming Iranian hackers for a 2013 cyberattack on a dam near New York City, according to CNN, which also reported that the department will bring an indictment against the suspected hackers.
Officials believe the hackers were working for the Iranian government at the time of the attack, unidentified sources said. Intelligence officials discovered that hackers had managed to get control of floodgates at the Bowman Avenue Dam in Rye Brook, New York, about 20 miles north of New York City in 2013.
Although no damage was done, the concern is the attack may have been a test run, and that it simply is a sign of what can be accomplished against more significant aging equipment - such as the power grid, CNN reported. Much of America's infrastructure has "retro-fitted software" that is connected to the Internet, the network said.
Cybersecurity expert and former FBI agent Leo Taddeo said the attack should concern U.S. officials because it was so simple. Officials also are wondering why such a minor piece of infrastructure was targeted by a foreign country.
Trump Softens Stance on Legal Immigration
Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has changed his mind concerning highly skilled, legal immigrants coming into the country.
"I'm changing it, and I'm softening the position because we have to have talented people in this country," Trump said during the Republican debate in Detroit.
Trump made no apologies for his change of positions. Bloomburg Politics points out that Trump's new position puts him in line with both Silicon Valley and the Chamber of Commerce who rely heavily on foreign workers. These organizations are also known to cut large checks during the general election.
Trump assured the audience that he in no way will relax his stance on illegal immigration.
He Believes in Conspiracies, So Police Confiscated All of His Guns
Daniel Jennings -Off The Grid News
Ralph Gilbertsen has no criminal record, and he owns a state gun permit, yet police came to his home without a warrant and confiscated his three pistols.
Officers apparently took Gilbertsen's weapons because he believes in UFOs, Bigfoot, and conspiracy theories.
Police took Gilbertsen's three handguns at the request of the Hennepin Community Outreach for Psychiatric Emergencies (COPE). The managers of Gilbertsen's apartment building called COPE after he sent them a letter saying CIA agents were watching him.
Significantly, no psychologist or medical professional examined Gilbertsen prior to the weapons being taken last year. Gilbertsen, 74, has been forced to retain an attorney and go to court to get his own guns back. His plight was detailed in a Star Tribune feature story this month. Police took a .40-caliber pistol, a Smith & Wesson .357 magnum, and an RG .22 revolver. Gilbertsen's psychiatrist wrote a letter saying the man poses no threat.
"He's what some people would say is a conspiracy theorist," Paul Baertschi, Gilbertsen's attorney, told the newspaper. "But really, the police acted unilaterally in deciding that a person who has these beliefs can't be trusted with a gun. And so they just took them, without a warrant."
House and Senate Override WV Governor Veto on Concealed Carry Law
Although the governor of West Virginia has vetoed the law twice, a bill allowing concealed carry without a permit will become law in the state, thanks to the House of Representatives and the Senate's action to override the veto. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin claimed that the bill would put law enforcement officers and citizens in danger, but the House and Senate was not convinced. House Bill 4145, which allows concealed carry without a permit, will be enacted by June.
Former Abortionist Graphically Explains 'Choice'
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow
Live Action continues releasing a shocking series of videos on what happens during abortions.
In the first week of the launch, the video on second-trimester abortions garnered over 11 million views. It's a procedure in which the baby is removed from the womb limb by limb until the abortion is complete, hence the gruesome term "dismemberment abortion."
The latest video deals with so-called "Suction D&C" abortions done during the first trimester.
Dr. Anthony Levatino, a former abortionist, narrates the video. He informs viewers the baby at that stage has a heartbeat and all its members, but the bones are still weak and fragile.
To end the life, the abortionist inserts a catheter.
"The suction machine is then turned on with a force 10 to 20 times more powerful than your household vacuum cleaner," Levatino explains in the video.
"The baby is rapidly torn apart by the force of the suction," he says, "and squeezed through this tubing down into the suction machine followed by the placenta."
And that's not the end of it.
Sometimes pieces of the baby remain inside the womb so the abortionist uses an instrument to scrape the inside of the womb to remove them.
Complications from the procedure do occur, including future pregnancies and premature births.
The newest video, as well as video number one, are on the Live Action website.
Organization Makes List of Companies Promoting Pornography
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation has released its annual "Dirty Dozen List" of companies and organizations which are contributing to sexual exploitation through pornography. The NCOSE wants to make the public aware of these companies in order to put pressure on them to reform. The NCOSE mission statement says, "We work for a world where the porn-ified vision of reality-with its utilitarian and insatiable consumption of human beings for selfish sexual pleasure, its raw, brutal, debasing, violent and hate-filled themes-becomes unacceptable to all people with concern and respect for the dignity and well-being of humanity."
According to OneNewsNow, NCOSE has convinced 15 companies to make major policy changes as a result of their campaign. The two top offenders on the dirty dozen list are The American Library Association and Cosmopolitan magazine. Some of the other groups are household names such as Amazon, Verizon, and YouTube. The Department of Justice also made the list because, although they do prosecute child pornographers, they fail to prosecute other forms of pornography which lead to sexual exploitation. The rest of the list is available on their website.
New York City Wants to Enforce Salt Warnings in Restaurants
Health officials in New York City are demanding that large chain restaurants and fast-food establishments post warnings about the dangers of high sodium levels on foods that the officials believe to be too salty. One News Now reported that The National Restaurant Association appealed that decision and that a judge put a temporary injunction on the rule. The ruling would place a huge burden on restaurants as they would be forced to redo their menus and online advertisements. It seems that the judge agreed that this would place an undue burden on restaurants. But what can you expect from a city whose mayor tried to ban large soda pops?
FDA Seeks to Ban Farmers from Fertilizing with Manure
The FDA is conducting a risk assessment on whether it is safe for farmers to use raw animal manure to fertilize crops, even though farmers have done so for thousands of years. Personal Liberty reported that the FDA is using the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) as a pretense to investigating the use of manure for fertilizer, even though the U.S. Department of Agriculture is in charge of such issues. The FSMA was touted as a measure, "to ensure the U.S. food supply is safe by shifting the focus from responding to contamination to preventing it."The FDA tried a similar measure to ban manure use in 2013 but gave up after a public outcry in favor of organic farming.
CO Bill Requires Reporting of Unvaccinated Children
A bill proposed by the House will make schools report unvaccinated children to the Colorado Department of Health and Environment. While the bill is only requiring that the records of unvaccinated children be collected and not that parents will be forced to vaccinate, parents are disturbed that the state is intruding into their lives.
"I have the freedom to report what I'm going to do with my children or not," said resident Christine Carter to CBS news in Denver. "I don't think it's the government's business."
Other parents feel that this is a step in the direction of the state to track down parents who chose not to vaccinate and eventually force them into compliance.
10 Year Old Gives Her Life to Save Other Children
Ten year old Kiera Larsen of Lakeside, CA, was struck fatally by a car while she was pushing two other children out of the way of danger. According to Fox 5, a parked car began rolling in reverse down a sloping dirt driveway and would have struck a one-year-old and two-year-old children who were playing in the yard. Kiera selflessly pushed the two girls out of the way but she died later that night at Sharp Grossmont Hospital from the injury she received from being struck by the car. "She was a big sister to them. She was always looking out for them and apparently she gave her life for my kids," said the father of the two children." "I don't know how to repay them, repay her."
Proposed Federal Regulation Could Squelch Popular Financial Advisers
Michael Tennant - The New American
Much ink has been spilled over whether the Department of Labor's proposed "fiduciary rule" will prevent small investors from obtaining financial advice. Equally concerning - but barely discussed until recently - are the rule's consequences for individuals who offer investment advice in a public forum, including radio and TV commentators, investment-seminar leaders, and newspaper columnists.
The highly complex rule vastly broadens the definition of a fiduciary. Up to now, someone was considered a fiduciary if he was in charge of managing another's assets; thus, quite naturally, he was charged with managing those assets in line with their owner's best interests. "Under the new rule," explained the Competitive Enterprise Institute's John Berlau, "financial professionals who provide even one-time guidance or appraisal of investments could find themselves classified as 'fiduciaries.'" And under the rule, a fiduciary, if he is compensated in any way for providing advice, must act in his client's "best interest" - a requirement that economists Robert Litan and Hal Singer called "a vague open-ended obligation with seemingly no bounds."
Of course, there is that little matter of freedom of speech that could impede the government's attempts to restrict investment advice.
Apple Engineers: We Will Quit Rather than Comply with FBI
As the FBI is still trying to force Apple to help unlock on of the San Bernardino shooter's iPhones, Apple engineers are saying that they would either not comply, or quit the company. According to The Hill, the software that the FBI is requesting would disable a key security feature on the device.
Apple's lawyer told the California court that the security breach would undermine the company."Such conscription is fundamentally offensive to Apple's core principles and would pose a severe threat to the autonomy of Apple and its engineers,"
Although a judge could penalize the company or hold them in contempt of court, if enough Apple employees quit or will not comply, there isn't much the FBI can do.
