Gingerbread Maggie

Oooey, goooey, soft, and chewy…especially when I dump half a bag of those fab cheese curds in a bowl and microwave them! The Gingerbread Jersey business, owned by Virgil and Cari Schunk, is a local favorite based in Augusta, Wisconsin. Everything is sold as natural, wholesome, chemical free, and the cheese is made on site!

My first curiosity was the logo: why the word "gingerbread?" It's a cookie, right? I understood the cow; as a farm girl, I know we need those creatures for cheese. Virgil explained the logo's design evolved from Cari's creativity and her admiration of Victorian homes. After doing some research on the term "gingerbread" as it related to wood, I found gingerbread scrolling, also called fretwork, was popular in the past with fancy exterior woodworking on Victorian structures.
